The she-wolf is not normally a dog who bothers about weather. Walks are sacrosanct, and if the human attached to the end of the lead gets cold and wet, well thats just too bad. Consequently, I was quite surprised at her attitude one recent and extremely rainy day. Okay, it was pouring, and there was as much puddle as grass along our route, but I was dry in gumboots and a swanndri, and shed never been bothered about getting wet before. Wed only been out about ten minutes when the ears started drooping, and the tail took on a dejected tone. Every hair on her body was radiating under-breath mutterings about bloody silly humans getting all excited and demanding to be taken for walks every day, even in the cold and the rain, when a dog could be cosily curled up in front of the fire.
A quick wanna go home, girl, confirmed what her body language was telling me. If Id had water-skis she could have towed me home in half the time it too to trudge through all the puddles, such was her eagerness to get in out of the rain.

A word from the Alpha Bitch

Okay, I admit it – while I might scoff at dog owners who treat their Poopsies or Schnookums like babies, my dogs also think my name is Mum. I’d like to believe, however, that my dogs also know me as The Alpha Bitch, more commonly known in canine as “the bitch who must be obeyed, dogdammit!” - The AB
